Each month, Hands On Northwest Florida organizes short-term community service projects serving the homeless, the elderly, at-risk children, animals, people with disabilities, the environment and more, making it easy for busy people to volunteer.
Hands On Pensacola also provides referral information on one-time and ongoing volunteer opportunities. |

Our customized consulting services include surveying employees about their volunteer interests, developing employee volunteer programs, designing and leading corporate volunteer days, facilitating long-term employee volunteering, training and educating employee volunteers and tracking employee volunteer hours. |

- Promote Volunteerism through speaking engagements to companies, civic groups, schools, universities, etc., and encourage engagement and recognition of volunteers through awards and other activities

Days of Caring, The first annual Touch a Truck & Buckle Up, a child safety fair and booster seat distribution opportunity, was held on Saturday, January 22, 2005. We hope this will become an annual event that provides Central Florida families with the knowledge they need to keep children safe, while also providing a fun venue for children to learn about the big trucks they love! Funding permitting, child passenger booster seats are also available for free to low-income families |

Home Safety for Seniors initiative: Youth teams visit seniors in their homes to assess safety needs and potential environmental hazards. The teams can allocate up to $200 in safety items to make the home safer and install such items as smoke alarms, fire extinguishers, levered door handles, anti-slip rug mats, energy efficient lighting, etc. |

- Get the word out to concerned citizens through The Volunteer Connection. If you want to get involved in the community – this is the place to look. Adults, youth, families, places of worship, schools and corporate groups can get the most up-to-date information on what they can do to volunteer.

- Offer volunteering on-line through VolunteerJacksonville.org. Anyone can sign on to our interactive volunteer matching website, choose the right volunteer experience for them and click to sign up.

- Groom youth for community leadership through The Points of Light Youth Leadership Institute (PYLI). High school students learn leadership skills, make new friends, are exposed to community needs and create a hands-on volunteer project during summer vacation.

- Prepare leaders for nonprofit board service through Blueprint for Leadership. Culturally diverse leaders graduate from this six-month program prepared to effectively serve on a nonprofit board of directors.

- Serve community-minded corporations through Corporate Connection. We provide businesses with current information on volunteer opportunities, board training and best practices for their employee volunteer programs.

- Equip our nonprofit partners with essential tools and guidance through Training & Consulting. Our training program provides courses to help build capacity for effective volunteering that bolster the nonprofit organization’s ability to provide quality services to the community.

- Support directors of volunteer programs through Directors of Volunteers In Agencies. (DOVIA). This networking group of professionals gathers six times a year to learn and share knowledge that impacts their volunteers and volunteer programs.

- Direct volunteers in the aftermath of a disaster through Managing Volunteers in Disaster. In the event of a disaster, Volunteer Jacksonville will coordinate the efforts of unaffiliated volunteers through the activation of a Volunteer Reception Center.

- Honor outstanding community volunteers through Celebration of Service. This extraordinary black tie stage event is held every April to exclusively honor our community’s most outstanding volunteers.
|
- Mobilize the community to help school children through A Visit From Saint Nicholas. In December Saint Nicholas makes a visit to elementary school children, and they are treated to backpacks filled with toys and books, festive decorations and a story of giving and sharing read by volunteers.

- Help our nonprofit partners raise money through The Belk Great Benefit Sale. Since 1994 Volunteer Jacksonville has coordinated the nonprofit involvement of this exclusive department store charity sale that benefits more than 85 community organizations each year.
|
- Help citizens in need through The Hope Fund. Every holiday season, Volunteer Jacksonville, the University of North Florida and The Florida Times-Union join forces to raise money for the basic necessities our community’s citizens who need it most.
